Ocho Rios Hotels & Resorts
Ocho Rios is centrally located in the “garden parish” of Jamaica’s north coast, two hours east of Montego Bay. Blessed with fertile soil, it’s no wonder that Ocho Rios is one of the fastest growing towns in the Caribbean. Lush foliage and forested mountains distinguish this tropical landscape; while the city’s lively spirit and infectious energy make the area irresistible. Ocho Rios is home to one of Jamaica’s most popular tourist attractions, the 600-foot cascading Dunn’s River Falls. Be sure to take some time to climb the falls, which are fed by springs located in the hills above, and enjoy views of the city. A little farther south of Ocho Rios is Fern Gully, a former riverbed that hosts more than 500 species of ferns and tropical flora. Visitors can follow a three-mile drive through a cool, green tunnel of 30-foot-tall fern trees. Sugarcane, coffee beans, bananas, coconuts and other products have been harvested for centuries at plantations such as Prospect Estates and Brimmer Hall, which offer tours that outline the life cycle of these exports as well as other activities.
